About Us
The mission of Mālama Kauaʻi is to enhance local food production and improve access for the residents of Kauaʻi, fostering a resilient community since 2006. Our work involves several initiatives focused on community support and sustainable farming practices, including educational programs for school gardens and farmer support.
We run various centers such as the Moloaa AINA Center and Olohena AINA Center, providing hubs for community engagement and agricultural development. These centers facilitate learning and offer resources to local farmers, helping to bolster their operations and fostering a more sustainable agricultural economy on the island.
Our Village Harvest Gleaning Program, Kauai Farm-to-School, and ongoing support for farmers illustrate our commitment to nurturing the local food system. By increasing food canopy and accessibility, especially for vulnerable populations, we strive to make a significant impact on the community's health and well-being.
Mālama Kauaʻi is also focused on community involvement through volunteering opportunities, workshops, and events. We offer chances for residents to learn more about farming practices and contribute to the agricultural community actively. By tapping into the power of local connections and educational resources, we aim to inspire sustainable practices among locals.
